Welcome from our Headteacher

On behalf of our whole school community, I am delighted to welcome you to the Kennington CE Academy website. I hope you find all of the information you are looking for and that this website gives you an insight into life at our wonderful school.

Kennington CE Academy is a school where children and childhood are valued and learning takes place within a supportive and happy learning environment. We are extremely proud to work closely with Downs View Infant School to jointly serve the Kennington and wider Ashford Community.

At Kennington CE Academy, we provide a rich, broad and balanced curriculum, where every child is supported by real-life experiences and encouraged to develop a life-long love of learning. The excellent experiences that we provide for our children are rooted in our own vision and values, coupled with the Church of England’s Vision for Education, through a focus on:

Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills: enabling discipline, confidence and delight in seeking wisdom and knowledge, and developing talents in all areas of life.

Educating for hope and aspiration: enabling healing, repair and renewal, coping wisely when things go wrong, opening horizons and guiding people into ways of fulfilling them.

Educating for community and living well together: a core focus on relationships, participation in communities and the qualities of character that enable people to flourish together.

Educating for dignity and respect: the basic principle of respect for the value and preciousness of each person, treating each person as a unique individual of inherent worth.

Church of England Vision for Education, 2015

We have high aspirations for our children and through nurturing them academically, emotionally and spiritually, we aim to provide them with secure foundations so that they leave us well-prepared for the next stage of their education, with positive values that they hold for life.

We are an inclusive school, where everyone feels valued and all are loved. Wellbeing is at the heart of everything that we do and we are fortunate to have our own Nurture Hub and Forest School on site. We are an OPAL school, with a fully developed play curriculum promoting the joy and freedom of childhood play, strengthening relationships and building self-esteem. You can find out more about each of these in their own sections on this website.

I am very proud to lead a highly motivated and talented team of staff and governors and we are privileged to work with a diverse community of unique and inspiring children.

We believe there is strength in togetherness, and in addition to our partnership with Downs View Infant School, we are also proud members of Aquila, the Diocese of Canterbury Multi Academy Trust.
