Year 4 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover) job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and driven practitioner to join our school for the Spring term 2025. This position is to cover Maternity Leave in a Year 4 class on Fridays. This role is on a fixed term contract (1 January 2025 - 31 August 2025).

Core Purpose:
This role involves delivering high-quality lessons, maintaining a positive and engaging classroom environment, and supporting the academic and personal development of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning and Delivery: Create and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of individual students, considering their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess and document students’ progress, using this data to inform your teaching strategies and ensure all students meet their targets.
- Feedback and Goal Setting: Provide both oral and written feedback on students' work, helping them set and review goals for improvement.
- Collaboration with Support Staff: Work closely with teaching assistants to effectively support learning in the classroom.
- Classroom Management: Maintain high behavioural expectations and promote a positive, safe learning environment.
- Communication and Reporting: Report on students’ development and progress to parents, colleagues, and external agencies as needed.
- School Community Engagement: Foster positive working relationships within the school community, promoting collaboration and mutual support.
- School Participation: Actively contribute to the broader life of the school by attending staff and team meetings and supporting school initiatives.

- Passion for Teaching: Has a genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to helping all students succeed.
- Effective Individualised Teaching: Can effectively teach a class of 30 students, providing personalised learning experiences.
- Strong Communication Skills: Possesses excellent communication skills and can create a positive classroom environment.
- Collaborative Spirit: Is able to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the overall success of the school.
- Key Stage 2 Experience: Ideally has experience teaching at Key Stage 2.
