This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our ambitious school as a Year Leader to Year 9 students. You would play a vital role in supporting our vibrant school community and helping to shape a strong, positive, and successful learning experience for all students.

The Role

The Head of Year is responsible for the leadership, management, and welfare of a designated year group, ensuring that every student is supported to shine academically, socially, and personally. Guided by the school’s values of trust, kindness and determination the role seeks to bring light in every student, create opportunity in every interaction, and harness the power in every teacher. The Head of Year monitors student progress and behaviour, provides pastoral support, fosters strong relationships with students, staff, and parents, and works collaboratively to promote a positive, inclusive, and values-driven school culture.

Working Hours

08:30-16.30 Monday to Friday 37 Hours per week. Term time plus 5 Inset days

The Ideal Candidate will have

Strong pastoral skills with experience supporting students with complex behavioural, social, and emotional needs. Pastoral experience may have been gained through previous roles such as a form tutor or other student support responsibilities.

The ability to communicate clearly, sensitively, and effectively with students, families, staff, and external agencies.

Knowledge of external support services, safeguarding procedures, and relevant school policies.

Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and coordinate pastoral and teaching responsibilities effectively.

Experience in delivering training, guidance, or mentoring to staff to support consistent pastoral practice.

Experience in leading, mentoring, and supporting tutors or other staff.
