Year Leaders (EYFS, KS1 or KS2) job summary

Due to the expansion of our school we now need to recruit Year Leaders. We have opportunities across the school, but we are particularly interested in recruiting EYFS/KS1 specialists. The persons appointed will be well qualified and experienced teachers ready to take their first step into middle leadership within an ‘all through’ setting. We expect our Year Leaders to act as a subject specialists for Primary and therefore it is important to outline your curricula strengths in your application form. All of our Year Leaders teach 0.8 timetable with dedicated PPA with their year team (0.1) and additional L&M time (0.1).

Mayfield is an extremely popular school with waiting lists in most year groups. We are also a very well-resourced school with a team of dedicated teaching assistants and learning support assistants working in our Primary Section. Consequently, you would be joining a very high calibre team and therefore, successful experience of working in a school which has been graded as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ is essential as is a demonstrable track record of improving outcomes at EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2.

Commitment to safeguarding

Mayfield School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. New members of staff will be required to apply for Disclosure Service certification as part of the School's staff recruitment process. Under the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1075, applicants for teaching posts are among those who are not entitled to withhold information about any previous criminal conviction.

Mayfield is a very successful and heavily oversubscribed school in the north of Portsmouth City. We are one of the first state, single-site, ‘all through’ schools in the country. We operate an “Outstanding” Pre-School and Nursery with reduced fees and preferential access for Mayfield staff. We have been successful in our bid to receive ‘Priority School Building’ funding which will result in the construction of a multi-million, ‘state of the art’ new build on the current school site which is due to open in summer 2021. In September 2016, OfSTED conducted a section 5 inspection and found all areas to be ‘good’ and in summer 2018 the school secured it’s best ever results across all key stages. All staff members have the opportunity to work across all sections of the school depending on their interest, skills and experience. During this period of growth, we have a number of vacancies in all sections and truly believe “our only limitation is our ambition”.

Before you apply for a post at Mayfield please ensure you have read and embrace our ways of working and ethos by reading our Staff Handbook.

Mayfield is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to criminal records bureau checks along with other relevant pre-employment checks.
