1:1 Learning Support Assistant (Nursery) job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (15 hours per week) to join our team and to support a pupil in the school nursery who has additional needs, specifically hearing loss and communication needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support the pupil to access the early years curriculum and thrive in the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning, play, and daily nursery routines

  • Support the pupil’s communication and language development using appropriate strategies and visual supports

  • Work with teachers and specialists to follow support plans and agreed targets

  • Promote the pupil’s social interaction, inclusion, and wellbeing within the nursery setting

  • Support the use of hearing equipment and help create a communication-friendly environment
