1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary

As a 1: 1 Teaching Assistant (Level 3) at Bishop Lonsdale CE Primary Academy part of St Chad’s Academies Trust, you will play a vital role in supporting a KS1 pupil to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. Working closely with teachers and colleagues, you will provide support, helping to remove barriers to learning and enabling the pupil to achieve their potential.

Main purposes of the job:

To provide learning support for a pupil with SEND in class or in 1:1 situations.

To aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide modified materials as required.

To be involved in the planning and preparation of the day to day class activities.

To support the pupil in the playground, provide positive reinforcements, praise and rewards.

Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with peers and support interaction between them.

To organsie and maintain an inclusive learning environment both in and out of the classroom.

To provide intimate care where necessary as required.

To attend in service training and relevant meetings relevant to the post in order to keep up to date with developments in working with pupils with special educational needs.

You will contribute to a calm, respectful and purposeful learning environment built on trust and harmony, where pupils feel safe, valued and confident. Through your dedication and positive relationships, you will support pupils’ engagement, independence and enjoyment of learning, adapting support to meet the needs of the pupil.
