32.5 hours per week

8:30 - 3:30 Term Time plus 1 week

Salary - £13.68 - £14.58 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a young person with a hearing impairment in accessing their learning. The successful candidate should hold at least a Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL), with Level 3 preferred, and will be employed at Grade E.

About the Role:

Provide tailored support in the classroom, ensuring full access to the curriculum for a young person with a hearing impairment.

Use BSL to communicate effectively and support learning.

Work closely with teachers and external specialists to implement personalised learning strategies.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Classroom Support: While the primary focus is on the individual student, you will also be expected to support the wider classroom, particularly in the young person’s absence, ensuring all students continue to receive quality support.

Collaborative Approach: Work as part of a team, assisting in delivering lessons, supporting group activities, and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere for all students.

About You: Minimum BSL Level 2 qualification (Level 3 preferred) Experience supporting children with hearing impairments (desirable) Patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education Strong communication and teamwork skills Flexible and adaptable to support wider classroom needs when required

Located in a modern building, Churchill Park Academy is an Ofsted Good, all through mixed special school, catering for children and young people of West Norfolk with complex needs. We currently have 220 students on roll. Churchill Park Academy is part of Unity Education Trust.

The successful candidates will have the ability to form positive relationships with children and young people and be committed to ensuring they have the very best support to learn. We are looking for someone who is confident, energetic, and open minded. Experience of working in a special school is not essential. Candidates must be able to empathize with young people who have a range of complex needs and all age groups.
