At Aspire school we believe that learning needs to be individual for all and aspirational for everyone. We are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our growing team to support a year 1 pupil, on a 1:1 basis, who has very individual needs. If you are experienced, enthusiastic, adaptable, hyper vigilant and proactive and have the passion to nurture individual pupils, please do apply.

The working hours are 8.30 until 15.30 Monday to Friday, term time only (38 weeks plus 5 training days). This is a 1-year temporary (with aim to extend),

You will be our desirable candidate if you:

  • have experience in supporting children with SEN in particular ASD;
  • have an understanding of FASD and the impact of support needed for a 6-year-old child;
  • are aware of how to enable a calm, safe nurturing environment to be able to learn.
  • have experience working with a VI child who is registered as sight impaired. Aware/experience of specific academic VI resources and technology needing to be implemented to support this child to further achieve and be provided with equality;
  • have some understanding of the new VI Curriculum that supports VI children achieve in life.
  • have an understanding of sensory regulation and behaviour linking to FASD, ASD, VI and cerebral palsy.
  • have previous experience or training in de-escalation and/or positive behaviour support.
  • are an understanding and resilient person;
  • thrive working in a friendly team with like-minded people;
  • have a positive sense of humour and attitude;
  • are a clear communicator with adults and children;
  • are a positive role model to all.
