What skills and experience we're looking for

As a Teaching Assistant in our school, you will have a passion about every child’s learning and believe in enabling an inclusive environment for the benefit of all children. Joining our friendly and supportive team, we need flexible, reliable and enthusiastic colleagues to support children with social communication, learning, physical, and speech and language needs. You will be an enthusiastic and resilient individual, preferably with experience of working with children with additional needs which may manifest as dysregulated behaviours.

Assisting the Class Teacher, you will support a pupil with SEND needs on a one-to-one basis, across a wide range of activities and supported learning activities, including the preparation and maintenance of resources. You will need to be able to deal with challenging behaviour with a firm but fair approach. Being ELSA qualified would be an advantage in supporting our pupil; however, it is not essential.

With a flexible, reliable and enthusiastic approach, you will be committed to developing effective working relationships with children, parents, staff and other professionals, to enable the very best support for children’s learning and development, whilst promoting excellent behaviour and high standards.

What the school offers its staff

As a professional and dedicated staff team we collaborate to secure high quality provision for children, working together to share expertise. You will benefit from being able to work as part of a year team, with a dedicated Year Leader and access to a Pastoral Team offering support and advice. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community for success and the continued safeguarding of pupils.

The School is part of the University of Chichester Multi-Academy Trust family. Each academy has a unique identity, but a shared belief in creating a positive and enriching environment, where all staff feel valued and proud to be part of the Trust. There are a range of professional development opportunities available within our school and as part of the Trust.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
