1:1 Teaching Assistant Level 2
Fixed-term Position until 31/08/2026 to work 1:1 with two children
25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
38 weeks per year
Pay Grade D3-4, £24,796 FTE. This will be £14,056.02 actual per annum.

We are excited to be recruiting for a brand-new Teaching Assistant, to join our growing community.
The Glenvale CE Primary School is looking for a committed teaching assistant to join our hard-working team to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis on a short term contract until August 2025. Through this appointment, we hope the strength the support received by our pupils and enhance their academic and emotional development. The ideal candidate will work with a caring, passionate and professional attitude, recognising the importance of this role within our school, to ensure safety, behaviour and organisation. Our staff and Governors are committed to ensuring that the curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities we offer, stimulate the children and ensure that they enjoy every day here and develop a love of learning. The atmosphere is very much one of a big family; from the children to the parents, staff and governors. Every child is known by their name by every member of staff.
We have been proud to be part of the Wilby community for over 170 years, but in 2023 we secured the opportunity to move into a fantastic new purpose build school building, in the Glenvale Park development. We moved to this new space in September 2024 and so, there is now no better time to join our community as a Teaching Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to join an established school embarking on a new chapter, excited to welcome you to our community and help our children flourish.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- 1:1 Support: Provide tailored support to a student with special educational needs (SEN) who may present with challenging behaviours.
- Interventions: Lead focused intervention sessions in numeracy and literacy to help boost the pupils progress and achievement. Lead focused interventions sessions in emotional literacy, nurturing support and social and life skills
- Behaviour Management: Implement and uphold effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a productive learning environment.
- Team Collaboration: Work in partnership with all staff members to support overall pupil development.
- Administrative Support: Help with administrative duties such as maintaining pupil records to share individual small step progress and preparing engaging learning activities.

- Is enthusiastic, approachable, friendly and positive about their contribution to our whole school community;
- Previous experience of working with and supporting children of relevant age in a school environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a willingness to work constructively as part of a supportive team.
- Good Literacy and Numeracy skills.
- Ability to build successful working relationships with both children, staff and parents.
- Personal commitment to on-going professional development.
- Shows initiative and creativity in different situations;
- Knowledge of the primary school curriculum and effective teaching methods
- Ability to engage and motivate pupils across a range of abilities and needs
- Proficient behaviour management skills and adaptability to pupils needs
- Is passionate about children’s safety and well-being;
- Is keen to support the ethos of a Church school.
