Following a period of growth, the Springfields Academy, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced Autism Support Worker to join the School in February 2024

FTE SalaryRange: GradeF, Pt 9 – 11 £25,119- £26,421 per annum pro-rata
Actual Annual Salary Range: £18,879.80 - £19,858.41 per annum
ContractType: Permanent, Part time, term time only (39 weeks a year)
ContractHours: 31.25 hours per week; Monday to Friday
About the role
We are looking for an Autism Support Worker (ASW) to work alongside the teacher to deliver a personalised autism friendly academic and social skills curriculum, as well as to support the families to implement functional skills within the home and community at our Calne site.
Springfields is a fantastic, vibrant and caring community that engages pupils and develops positive attitudes to learning. Our autism approach is accessed by all our pupils and is personalised to meet specific needs. All our pupils have an education, health and care plan.
About the successful candidate
The position of Autism Support Worker (ASW) is anexciting opportunity for a passionate and compassionate individual to leadinterventions and support our learners with autism.
Key skills:
- To have a good knowledge andunderstanding of autism and social communication needs and appropriatestrategies to support pupils with this need. E.g. TEACCH
- To have knowledge and understanding ofsocial, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs, that affectchildren and young people's development.
- Excellent listening skills
- An ability to build strong, trustingrelationships
- To be resilient and able to take regularresponsibility for agreed learning /activities
- Promote and support the inclusion of allpupils in the learning and social skills activities
- To use positive and personalised anxietymanagement strategies
About the School
The Springfields Academy is a ReachSouth Academy for young people aged 5-19 with autism. We have 170 pupilsattending our Calne site and 40 pupils at our Satellite provision in Salisbury.Our goal is to build safe independent lives for autistic young people throughsupport, understanding and enablement.
The Springfields Academy is an academy over two sites in Calne andSalisbury. This includes a residential provision at our Calne academy. Weaspire to build safe independent lives for autistic young people throughsupport, understanding and enablement. Additionally, we are a ‘NationalAutistic Society Accredited Provision’ with over 90% of the current cohort havinga diagnosis of Autism. All students have the potential to access aprimary/secondary curriculum.
We are an acknowledged centre of excellence forAutism; we are highly reflective in our practices, and are continually workingto improve our provision and practices. We provide a personalised curriculumjourney that enables leaners with a diagnosis of autism to develop skills inareas of need and to overcome their barriers to learning. The drive to build‘safe Independent lives’ shapes this curriculum and everything else that we do.The Academy has a PAN of 190.
