Thomas Hall School,Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced Premises Assistant to join the School as soon as possible.
Post: Premises Assistant
Location: Thomas Hall School, Exeter, Devon, EX4 5AD
FTE Salary Range: Plymouth NJC, Grade C, £23,500 rising to a maximum of £24,294 per annum pro-rata
Contract Type: Permanent, part-time
Contract Hours: 22.2 (0.6 FTE) hours per week, Monday to Friday
About the role
We are looking to recruit an experienced Premises Assistant to join our team. Under the supervision of the Premises Manager, the Premises Assistant will assist with the general security of the school premises and assistant with the maintenance of the premises, machinery and plant equipment. The Premises Assistant will carry out daily inspections of the premises to identify damage and/or vandalism and to report findings to the Premises Manager to help maintain the internal and external fabric of the school premises as a safe working and learning environment. We also need the succesfull applicant to help the site team in managing the lettings. Therefore some flexibility in working hours may be needed and agreed. It is anticipated that the role will grow into a full time post.
About the successful candidate
This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated, confident and dedicated person who is very well organised and with a can-do attitude. We are looking for people who have the following experience and qualities:
Essential:
- Understanding of basic maintenance work and the safe use of associated tools and equipment
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act including COSHH regulations
- Experience of carrying out administrative processes relevant to the job
- Numeracy and literacy skills to carry out the above functions
Desirable:
- Minibus test certificate
- The post holder will require judgemental skills with the ability to identify straightforward solutions to job related problems and situations.
- Considerable precision required to operate hand tools and associated equipment and machinery.
- Required to solve varied problems arising from staffing issues and cleaning duties
- Previous experience of working in a school, whilst is not essential would be desirable.
