Pilgrim Primary Academy, Reach South Academy Trust, is seeking to appoint two Breakfast Club Assistants

Location: Pilgrim Primary Academy,Oxford Street, Plymouth PL1 5BQ
Actual Salary: £2,844 per annum
Salary Range: Grade A, £23,656, pro-rata, per annum
Hours/Contract: 5 hours per week 8am-9am Mon-Fri, term-time only 39 weeks per year
The Role:
We are looking for two enthusiastic and responsible persons to work in our Breakfast Club provision. The clubs, host up to 30 children daily of ages from 4 - 11 years and runs before and after school hours from 8am-9am. The club runs every day when school is open to children (equivalent to 38 weeks of the year - in term time only).
Specifically, the role involves:
Providing children with a range of activities including crafts, group games, construction, active play (using the school grounds - weather permitting), and quiet activities
Setting up the environment daily
Preparation of breakfasts and drinks (Food Hygiene Certificate required - training can be provided)
Monitoring food stock levels and liaising with the Office Manager to prepare stock orders
Communication with parents and carers (face to face or via telephone)
Providing First Aid (Paediatric First Aid certification required - training can be provided)
The Person:
We are looking for an organised, energetic and caring assistant for our Breakfast Club. You will:
Be committed to providing high quality care for all children and meeting the needs of each child in your care
Plan and implement the delivery of a varied programme of games, crafts and activities
Have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, rigorous safeguarding practices and a commitment to maintaining up to date safeguarding knowledge through additional training
Hold a NVQ level 3 in Playwork/Childcare or similar (e.g.NCFE CACHE Level 3 Playworker) and have experience of working with children aged 4-11yrs.
Hold Food Hygiene Certificate Understand and practice requirements for food hygiene and dietary and allergy restrictions (Food Hygiene Certificate required)
Be trained in Paediatric First Aid and hold current certification (or willingness to undertake necessary training)
Be an excellent communicator and uphold the professional standards expected of all staff as outlined in Academy and Trust Policies.
