Salary Range: Grade H: £40,777 - £45,091
Contract Type: Permanent, Full time
Contract Hours: 37.5hours per week, Monday to Friday
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Surveyor to deliver a high-quality, solutions-focused surveying service across our schools. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in transforming and improving our estate, supporting the Trust’s Strategic Development Plan. The postholder will report to the Senior Building Surveyor and work closely with the wider operations team and external stakeholders. The role covers 16 academies across the Southwest of England. The role will be based in either Plymouth or Gloucestershire, with regular travel to Trust academies.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and deliver construction and maintenance projects from design to completion.
Ensure statutory compliance, including Building Safety Act 2022 and CDM regulations.
Prepare specifications, procure contractors, and administer JCT contracts.
Provide technical advice, building condition surveys, and cost estimates.
Contribute to asset management planning and Trust growth projects.
Oversee budgets and ensure best value procurement.
About the successful candidate
The successful candidate will be experienced in Building Surveying within the Education, corporate or non-profit sector, with a focus on customer service and satisfaction through problem resolution. They will also need to have:
- Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualified experience in building surveying.
- Strong knowledge of legislation, compliance, and procurement processes.
- Experience managing multiple projects and administering JCT contracts.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to travel to different Trust settings regularly.
Desirable: Membership of RICS or similar professional body.
