What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Second in Charge (2i/c) of Science with a specialism in Physics (KS4/5). The ideal candidate should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant Science subject.
  • A strong track record of excellent teaching, particularly in Physics at KS4 and KS5.
  • Experience in curriculum development and leading science initiatives.
  • The ability to support the Head of Science in managing the department and mentoring staff.
  • Experience using data to assess student progress and implement targeted interventions.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills to inspire both students and colleagues.

This role is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within the Science department at St. Aloysius’ College. The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in developing and delivering an engaging and high-quality Science curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring high achievement for all.
  • Support and mentor colleagues within the department, fostering a culture of professional growth.
  • Take an active role in school improvement initiatives and curriculum planning.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and contribute to whole-school leadership.
