What skills and experience we're looking for
For September 2023, we are looking to appoint a full-time 2nd in Science with a specialism in Biology. The successful candidate will need to teach at least two Science specialisms (from Biology, Chemistry and Physics) at KS4 and all specialisms at KS3. A Level teaching would be available for a suitably qualified candidate. We are also seeking a candidate who has a willingness to teach A Level Psychology. It is important to us to have an enthusiastic and engaging 2nd in Science who will join and enrich our strong science leadership team and who can work under pressure, without losing their all-important sense of humour. All classes are taught in mixed-ability groups. Teaching science is lively, innovative, creative and rigorous, but – above all – fun. The extra-curricular provision is also very strong, with a thriving and successful Science Club as well as a host of Gifted and Talented activities and curriculum-based trips and visits.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join an experienced and supportive department. Due to the success of the subject at KS4 and 5, the ability to teach Biology A Level would be a significant advantage.
