Carlton Bolling is a vibrant and inclusive secondary school located near the centre of Bradford, proudly educating over 1,600 students. In 2023, we were awarded an “Outstanding” rating by Ofsted, a reflection of the dedication, passion, and collaboration of our staff, students, and families. This recognition affirms our commitment to providing a nurturing, high-achieving environment where every child is empowered to thrive. Our ethos of “Excellence for All” is underpinned by the core values of Ambition, Respect, and Resilience, which guide every aspect of school life. We are proud to be a TES Secondary School of the Year Nominee 2025 and a Healthy Relationships Champion School, further demonstrating our commitment to academic excellence and student well-being.

Carlton Bolling offers a broad, inclusive curriculum enriched with opportunities that prepare students for life in modern Britain. We place great emphasis on character development, leadership, and community engagement. Staff are passionate professionals who are supported to innovate and lead, with the quality of teaching and learning recognised by Ofsted as a significant strength. Our inclusive culture is lived daily through our mantra “Everyone belongs.” We work in close partnership with parents, carers, and local organisations through our Partners in Excellence programme, ensuring every child receives holistic support and real-world experiences that inspire them to become compassionate, responsible citizens.

Our journey has been remarkable. In 2014, Carlton Bolling was placed in Special Measures and dubbed ‘The Most Broken School in the Country.’ Less than two years after exiting Special Measures, we achieved an “Outstanding” rating, followed by World Class School accreditation in 2018 and the Pearson/BBC Secondary School of the Year award in 2019. In 2024, we received the prestigious Careers Mark Award for our outstanding careers and guidance programme. Despite our success, we continue to innovate, with exciting initiatives introduced in recent years and many more to come.

Carlton Bolling is the founding school of Carlton Academy Trust (CAT), established in 2019. The Trust now oversees three secondary schools, three primary schools, and three special schools, collectively educating nearly 5,000 students and employing almost 1,000 staff. All CAT schools are rated either Outstanding or Good by Ofsted. Like all CAT schools, Carlton Bolling is a great place to work, with friendly, supportive staff, small class sizes averaging just 16 in Maths and English, and excellent student behaviour maintained by a dedicated team of non-teaching Heads of Year. Meetings, bureaucracy, and paperwork are kept to a minimum, and staff are regularly recognised and rewarded for their contributions.

These are exciting times at Carlton Bolling. If you are a passionate professional looking to make a real impact in a forward-thinking, supportive environment, we warmly invite you to be part of our journey.

We are looking for a passionate and committed Academic Mentor to join our team and help young people reach their full potential. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to gain valuable experience in a school environment while making a meaningful impact on the lives of students.

Employee welfare is extremely important to us, and we are proud to offer a comprehensive employee benefits package through the ‘Carlton Cares’ programme, designed to support colleagues physical, mental and financial wellbeing. These benefits include a fully funded Health Plan and an Employee Assistance Programme, in addition to salary sacrifice and employee discount schemes. Employee Benefits - Carlton Academy Trust
