About the Role
We have an exciting new role at The Sele School. We are seeking to appoint three motivated and proactive Academic Support Workers to play a key role in raising standards across the school. This is a dynamic, student-facing role focused on supporting identified pupils to improve their engagement, behaviour, and academic progress.
Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and the SEND department, you will support students both in and out of the classroom—helping them overcome barriers to learning and succeed in a positive and structured environment.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about education, confident working with young people, and committed to making a real difference to students who need targeted support.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience of working with young people (ideally in a school or similar setting)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships quickly
- Confidence in managing behaviour and supporting student engagement
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work across different contexts
- A commitment to inclusion and supporting all students to succeed
At The Sele School, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment where both students and staff can thrive. You will be part of a dedicated team working collaboratively to make a real difference to young people’s lives. What can we offer you?
The chance to work in a positive, welcoming and forward-thinking community where evidence-based methods are seamlessly integrated into teaching and learning.
A dedicated staff who are enthusiastic and who want the best for students.
A CPD package which is tailored to suit your stage of career development.
Cycle to work scheme which is part of the school’s sustainability strategy.

Applications must be made using the school application form (CVs, or applications made using any other format, will not be accepted) and should be emailed to the address above for the attention of Madeline Genovese, to be considered for interview. The Sele School community is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and all staff and volunteers are expected to demonstrate this commitment in all aspects of their work. Applicants for this post must be willing to undergo child protection training. A full enhanced DBS check will be undertaken and references will be sought prior to appointment start date.
