Academy HR Officer job summary
This is an incredible opportunity for an HR professional to make a difference and join a great team of people within a supportive, values-led organisation. Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is one of the largest not-for-profit MAT's in England with almost 5,000 staff and 30,000 students. We have been around since 2009 making us one of the longest established trusts. Our mission is to be the Trust that makes the biggest difference both inside and outside the classroom.
Our vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential, whether going on to study at a leading university or entering the world of work. We are determined to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.
Core Purpose and Scope:
You will be a critical member of the People and Culture team, supporting the daily operation of HR services in the Academy. You’ll work with the wider team to provide a brilliant HR service, support employee relations, and continuously improve our approach, ultimately having a really positive impact on the education we provide to pupils.
You’ll also play a key role in the delivery of our People Strategy, developing our One OAT culture and ensuring that OAT is a place that people want to join and stay part of.
OAT is a great organisation to work for. We offer:
- 26 days annual leave + bank holidays, rising to 29 after 5 years’ service.
- Excellent career prospects in a supportive environment.
- Commitment to your continued professional development.
- LGPS pension with a generous employer contribution.
- Employee benefits and wellbeing package.
- Cycle to work salary sacrifice scheme.
- Season ticket loan.
About the role:
This role is fast paced, varied and dynamic, offering opportunities to work with HR stakeholders across all layers of the organisation. You will benefit from the support of a fantastic, experienced HR team at OAT head office. This is a great opportunity that will give you experience working with schools across the OAT network and HR stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds, as well as access to sector partners and colleagues to network and share best practice with along the way.
This post will initially be based on-site working across the 3 London Academies, with the ability to work remotely up to 2 days per week, once well acquainted with the team, systems and processes.
About you:
This role is perfect for someone looking for experience in a large MAT. This post will provide exposure to all aspects of HR at many levels, from onboarding, absence management and staff development. The successful candidate will be a confident relationship builder with excellent communication skills and have a good operational understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
