The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Academy IT Lead to join our Trust-wide IT Services team. You will be the on-site IT lead at Armthorpe Academy, working closely with school leaders and staff while being part of a collaborative central IT team of 13 professionals.

You will take ownership of all aspects of IT provision on site, ensuring staff and students receive reliable, high-quality technical support and that systems are secure, compliant and fit for purpose.

Occasional travel to other Trust schools may be required.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations & Support

  • Lead day-to-day IT operations on site, providing proactive and reactive support
  • Manage and resolve helpdesk tickets in line with SLAs
  • Maintain school infrastructure, hardware, software and network systems
  • Act as the on-site representative for Trust IT Services

Hardware, Software & Network

  • Install, configure and maintain PCs, laptops, tablets, servers and peripherals
  • Support VoIP phone systems, printers, projectors and interactive boards
  • Ensure antivirus, updates and security measures are fully implemented
  • Support basic network management tasks, including VLAN changes
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, passwords and assets

Relationships & Communication

  • Build strong working relationships with SLT, staff and students
  • Hold regular meetings with school operational leaders
  • Liaise with central IT colleagues and third-party suppliers
  • Provide guidance, advice and training to staff when required

Compliance, Security & Development

  • Implement Trust IT policies and cyber security practices
  • Support GDPR compliance and data protection requirements
  • Lead or support school-based IT projects
  • Take ownership of a Trust system or process following training
  • Engage in CPD and ongoing professional development

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • ICT qualifications or equivalent experience at Level 3 or above
  • Strong experience supporting end-user devices and Windows-based environments
  • Experience with Office 365, servers, networks and cloud technologies
  • Excellent customer service, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise effectively
  • Flexible, proactive and adaptable approach
  • Driving licence (travel between academies required)

Desirable

  • Experience working in an education setting
  • Vendor or specialist IT certifications
