Academy Welfare Officer job summary
Required for a September 2025 start, we are seeking to appoint an Academy Welfare Officer to provide additional support to our welfare team and work with external agencies and community led organisations to improve and enhance the welfare of our students and their families.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals and parents as part of fulfilling the Academy’s ambition to ensure that all students reach their full potential. The successful candidate will be a lead professional for Early Help Assessments (EHAs) and implement supportive strategies to address the needs of students and their families.
It goes without saying that the successful candidate will possess a good sense of humour and have the ability to relate to young people.
The working pattern for this position is Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm and Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm. You will be working school term time plus one week which equates to 39 working weeks per year.

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED – December 2019), conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.
The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018. This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

We are looking for a candidate who:
- Is experienced in the use of Office Word/Excel with proven administrative experience to ensure good record keeping in relation to meetings and discussions.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to enable them to take the lead in relevant meetings.
- Ideally has previous experience in a similar role or working with young people and families regarding EHAs.
- Has the ability to maintain positive and productive relationships between home and the Academy.
- Has a strong commitment to continuing professional development.
