Accounts/Finance Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship job summary

The apprentice will have a comprehensive and varied role. They will be supported and learn to process and complete daily finance and admin tasks alongside longer term projects. This will include:

  • Sage 200 finance system: Learning to navigate and utilise this software for financial processes
  • Matching payments and receipts: Ensuring transactions are accurately recorded in the Trust Bank account on Sage
  • Investigating queries: Resolving any discrepancies or issues that arise
  • Bank reconciliations: Balancing the bank statements with the organisation's records on Sage
  • Setting up BACs payment runs: Checking and managing electronic payments
  • Processing invoices: Handling both purchase and sales invoices
  • Checking supplier statements: Verifying the accuracy of supplier accounts
  • Liaising with suppliers and school admin staff: Building communication skills and maintaining good relationships
  • Audit awareness: Keeping records up-to-date for audits
  • Data input and research: Supporting financial projects with accurate data
  • Answering the Central Team phone: Developing customer service skills
  • Supporting with Finance Team emails: Managing correspondence effectively
  • Office 365 and Teams: Utilising these tools for collaboration and productivity

This role offers a great opportunity to develop a broad skill set in finance and administration.

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training Association Limited.
