ACE Tutor- A Champion for Everyone job summary
ACE Tutor- A Champion for Everyone
At Miltoncross Academy we are dedicated to ensuring that those students most in need are very well supported to succeed academically in school. It is our ambition that all of our disadvantaged students leave school with academic qualifications that match their more affluent peers and that their success is never hampered by any existing disadvantage. To do that, we are breaking the mould by developing our, A Champion for Everyone (ACE) programme. This programme allocates disadvantaged students with a dedicated in-school academic tutor whose role is to help their tutees overcome barriers to strong outcomes. This is done by meeting each tutee each week, setting goals, liaising with teachers, monitoring attendance and progress and liaising very closely with parents and families alongside any additional practical support such as providing equipment, referrals and checking homework.
This role is key to our strategy to raise disadvantaged students’ outcomes and the successful applicant will report directly to and work closely with our Senior ACE Tutor who has been piloting the programme. Full safeguarding and tutoring training will be given alongside clear line management and team meetings to ensure significant impact of your work is achieved. This is a really exciting opportunity to work 1-1 with students and make a real difference to young people’s lives. We intend to continue scaling up our ACE tutoring programme until 100% of disadvantaged students have an ACE Tutor.
Each tutor will need to be:
Well educated (desirable: degree level)
Morally driven
Empathetic
Tenacious
Well organised
