Withernsea Primary School is looking to appoint a dedicated, resilient and enthusiastic Achievement Support Assistant to join our team and contribute to the continued development of our school, in our SEMH Provision.

This is a fixed-term maternity cover position from September 2026 until May 2027, working 31 hours per week.

We are seeking someone who:

• Has a genuine enthusiasm for supporting children and helping them to enjoy learning

• Has experience of, or an understanding of, supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

• Is committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential

• Can build positive, trusting relationships with children who may present with challenging behaviour

• Demonstrates patience, empathy and resilience in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs

• Is able to use restorative approaches and positive behaviour strategies effectively

• Works well as part of a team and contributes positively to school life

• Values inclusion and understands how to support a range of learning, emotional and behavioural needs

• Builds strong relationships with pupils, parents, external agencies and the wider community

• Is organised, dependable and reflective in their practice

• Has high expectations for both themselves and the pupils they support

• Can work effectively alongside teachers and other professionals to support learning, emotional regulation and personal development
