McMillan Nursery part of Thorpepark Academyis seeking to appoint a dedicated Achievement Support Assistant to join our committed team of staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, is flexible, and is enthusiastic about supporting young children’s learning and wellbeing.

About the Role

As an Achievement Support Assistant, you will work closely as part of a team working across the nursery’s three settings supporting children’s learning and development. You’ll provide both individual and small group support, ensuring every child can access the curriculum and make good progress. An interest in our SEND unit is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the learning and progress of young children accessing the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Assist with planning and delivering play-based, child-centred activities in line with the EYFS curriculum.
  • Work with children with additional needs recognising each child’s individuality helping children with special educational needs to make good progress.
  • Support the emotional and behavioural development of young children with a focus upon building strong relationships with children to help them to develop skills and promote a positive learning environment
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

  • Has experience working with children within an Early Years setting.
  • Is patient, resilient, and passionate about Early Years Education.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works well in a team but can also use their initiative
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
