Due to the promotion of the existing post holder, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an established leader to join the team at Barlby Bridge Community Primary School as Deputy Headteacher, with additional Co-Headteacher responsibilities (this role would be negotiated, dependent on candidate suitability and experience). As a critical part of the leadership team, the successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, taking a strategic role in shaping whole school vision and developing the schools’ core aims which include the development of resilience, aspiration and achievement for all. A key aspect of the role will include overseeing the continued development of a strong core curriculum offer, including responsibility for developing middle leadership and supporting the team in constructing an inclusive, diverse and challenging curriculum. Professional development opportunities including further enhanced leadership training through NPQ or NPQH would be fully supported and the Governing body are keen to welcome candidates looking towards Headship in the future. This will be a one-year post which would be suitable for a Secondment or someone wishing to seek further leadership career development on a fixed term temporary basis. This post includes a teaching commitment of 0.55. Part-time working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven outstanding teaching and leadership experience. They will have the knowledge and skill to develop quality teaching and learning provision, and the ability to develop the practice of colleagues in school though motivating and inspiring others.
Key responsibilities include:
Curriculum leadership and responsibility for the development of middle leaders, including planning, constructing and implementing an ambitious curriculum offer;
Overseeing whole school attendance and continuing the successful work of the school in raising overall school attendance and reducing the rate of persistent absenteeism, particularly for the most vulnerable groups. The successful candidate will work closely with the Attendance officer in school to make timely decisions which ensure the greatest impact on outcomes for all pupils;
Supporting the Headteacher and Governing body in making strategic decisions in relation to the spending of additional funding including Pupil Premium, Sports Premium and Recovering Premium. Analysis of the impact of spending decisions and an ability to present information coherently to a range of audiences including Governors and the Local Authority;
Working in collaboration with the Headteacher to develop a clear and focused CPD plan for all staff, which clearly aligns to School Development Plan priorities and includes opportunities for training, coaching and mentoring. Ensuring that through focused monitoring, the quality of teaching and learning is further strengthened across all areas of the curriculum;
Taking a lead role in appraisal through pupil progress meetings, focused scrutiny and undertaking responsibility for overseeing a team of teachers through the Performance Management Cycle;
Reporting regularly to the Governing body on key aspects of Whole School Development, curriculum focused work and attendance. Undertaking responsibility for overseeing key aspects of the School Development Plan and School Evaluation and regularly evaluating the impact of actions taken at a whole school level;
Working with all stakeholders to ensure an inclusive, caring and focused learning environment which fosters a positive learning experience, rooted in high ambition and achievement for all;
Outstanding leadership of a key curriculum area which exemplifies expectations of roles and responsibilities to the middle leadership team.
Co-Headteacher Responsibilities (0.2) include:
Overseeing the day-to day running of the school, ensuring the Headteacher duties are carried out with initiative and proactivity; maintaining high standards of education and upmost safety for all pupils and staff on the school site;
Ability to work effectively with a range of key stakeholders including parents, pupils and staff, and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences;
Commitment to ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning across the school through the development of a strategic and ambitious SDP and focused staff CPD and monitoring cycle;
An excellent knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding procedures and an ability to make decisive and informed decisions in relation to Child Protection.
