We are currently looking for Support Assistant to assist a visually impaired member of our team with their duties.

As a Support Assistant, you will provide a wide range of support to a member of our team, who has a visual impairment. 

Duties will include providing individual support for the staff member, which could include attending meetings, taking confidential minutes and producing records, managing Excel/word documents, filing, for example.

The ideal candidate will be required to have a good level of ICT skills with the ability to work independently and show initiative. Good time management and flexibility are required. You will need to have a positive attitude to working as part of a team and be sensitive to the needs of a school environment.

Reporting to: Headteacher but primarily working under direction of our SENDCo.

Job Purpose:

To support a visually impaired member of our team and assist them in their work duties.

Duties: 

  • To assist with day-to-day administration tasks.
  • To provide support with appointments.
  • Assisting with the preparation of forms, maintenance of records.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Attend relevant training.
  • To undertake photocopying, filing, scanning and e-mailing.
  • Other reasonable duties set out by the Headteacher/SENDCo

Person Specification

Essential skills, experience, and knowledge:

  • Understands how to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understands Safeguarding.

  • Excellent ICT skills.
  • Accurate minute taker and producer of documents.
  • Ability to build a trusting relationship with our colleague.
  • Punctual, organised and hard-working.
