Northgate School is a successful outstanding special school in Northampton, serving children and young people aged between 11 and 18. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan. The school caters for a range of complex needs in particular:
- Moderate learning difficulties
- Autism
- Speech, Language and Communication difficulties

We are currently seeking to recruit an Administration Assistant to work at our Northgate site and we are looking for passionate and resilient individual who will work proactively and who are ambitious for our children and young people to be curious, kind and have a real sense of belonging within our school community. Someone who is an inspirational, hardworking and enthusiastic person to join our highly motivated 'outstanding' team.
Main Purpose of Role
* Jobs require a high level of courtesy and effectiveness in dealing with pupils, colleagues, parents/carers and the general public.
* Should be able to ask questions, seek clarification and exchange information using tact, diplomacy and discretion.
* No supervisory responsibilities however day-to-day the post holder will work largely unsupervised and be responsible for managing their regular tasks.
* Works under an agreed system of supervision/management delivery learning and providing specialist knowledge.
* Likely to interact with colleagues, manager, other service users and external partners and agencies.
Administrative Support
1. Provide administrative and other support to meet service delivery requirements including; photocopying, typing of letters, compiling/analysing/reporting on attendance, exclusions.
2. 2. Where appropriate undertake reception duties, answering telephone calls and greeting parents/carers and service users ‘face to face’; dealing with straight forward queries and referring more complex queries to senior colleagues.
3. 3. Provides administrative support to members of the ALT specifically relating to the pupil review/EHC process. Key tasks will involve contact with parents/carers and outside agencies; scheduling of diary dates and coordination and distribution of paperwork.
4. 4. To assist in the preparation/completion of processes at the beginning and end of every academic year.
Experience of school's finance would be an advantage.
Working with People
1.Build and maintain positive constructive working relationships with pupils, parents, carers, colleagues, professionals and multi-agencies to maximise pupil development and maintain the overall ethos of the school.
Working with resources and Information
1. Maintain an awareness of the importance of the appropriate use of resources to minimise waste and maximise the effectiveness of financial resources.
2. 2. Monitor, observe, record and feedback on pupil achievement providing objective reports with appropriate evidence and assist in the gathering of information and completion of pupil profiles and records of attainment to maximise pupil development.
3. 3. May implement specific progress and review systems related to a specialist area to ensure monitoring and review of pupil progress to maximise pupil development and meet national requirements.
