Administrative Assistant at Thurcroft Infant School job summary

We are looking for a friendly, approachable and highly organised Administrative Assistant to join our school office team. This is a key role within our school, and the successful candidate will be the welcoming face of Thurcroft Infant School, ensuring that pupils, parents and visitors feel valued and supported.

The ideal candidate will have experience of administrative processes and be confident managing a wide range of tasks in a fast‑paced office environment. No two days are the same at Thurcroft Infant School, and you will work closely with our established office team to ensure the school office continues to operate efficiently and effectively.

Our school office is a dynamic and vital hub of the school. We are a friendly and supportive team who co‑ordinate all aspects of school life beyond the classroom, helping the school to run smoothly each day.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Responsibilities include welcoming visitors, answering the telephone, supporting the management of the school attendance system, preparing correspondence, organising school visits, and monitoring online payment systems. Further details can be found in the job description within the attached application pack.

Thurcroft Infant School is a 2.5 form entry school, including a nursery, with pupils aged 3 to 7. Our pupils are enthusiastic, well‑behaved learners who make strong progress. During its visit in April 2025, Ofsted noted that “pupils enjoy attending Thurcroft Infant School”, behaviour is good, and there are “strong relationships between adults and pupils”. The children demonstrate good manners and are welcoming to visitors.

Parents consistently describe our school as warm and supportive, commenting that “the staff are ace”, “the headteachers are simply the best ever”, and that the school is “always approachable” and “very welcoming”.

If you have any questions about the role, please do not hesitate to contact us. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
