Administrative Assistant to the Director of Rowing

  • Job Title: Administrative Assistant to the Director of Rowing
  • Salary Range: £12.21 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Contract Type: Temporary
  • Hours of Work: 20 hours per week (working hours and days to be discussed and agreed with the Director of Rowing depending on the needs of the department)
  • Working Weeks: 39 weeks per year (Term Time Only)

The Role

Great Marlow School is looking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Rowing. The Administrative Assistant will be working with the Director of Rowing to ensure all policies are followed, ensuring coaches, rowers, staff and parents/carers are kept fully informed on what is happening both in the immediate daily routine and over the full season.

As well as supporting the Director of Rowing with the necessary administration of the club. The administrative assistant will have responsibility for British Rowing registrations and affiliations, race entries in a timely manner. Final crew line ups for racing should be checked by the relevant coach to ensure we have accurate entries on the day.

Great Marlow School Boat Club (GMSBC)

Great Marlow School Boat Club (GMSBC) was re-established in 2008 and is known for its competitiveness in rowing at national and international level. The club has enjoyed substantial successes at all of the National Events including winning 1st Eights at the Schools Head, Winning Championship Boys Quads at the Scullery Head and over twenty students gaining International Selection in the since 2012.

The club has around 120 members from Year 8 to Year 13, boys and girls, who train on the river at Marlow, a 20 minute walk from the school.

Great Marlow School is a large co-educational secondary school located in the town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The school has around 1,450 students aged 11-19, with over 200 attending the sixth form.

Founded in 1961, the school converted to academy status in 2011 and in the last six years has invested £9 million in developing the school facilities including a state of the art sports centre, sixth form centre and performing arts accommodation. The Redgrave Sports Centre was named after former pupil and Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, he opened in the centre in May 2013. The school and the sports centre are a 'hub' of the local community and host events and activities throughout the evenings, weekends and school holidays.
