Fitzwaryn School is seeking an experienced and highly organised Administrative Officer to lead our busy school office. Reporting to the School Business Manager, this is a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of administrative operations and supporting the SLT and staff in delivering excellent service to staff, pupils, and parents. They will also act as the initial point of contact for parents, visitors and other stakeholders so will be an ambassador for the school and embody the value, vision, and ethos of the school in all interactions.

Fitzwaryn School is widely recognised as an outstanding provider of education for pupils aged 3-19 with special education needs (SEN) within Oxfordshire. Fitzwaryn school has recently developed a satellite provision at St.John’s School, just four minutes from the main site to expand capacity and enable upto 40 additional pupils to benefit from the school’s outstanding provision.

The administrative officer will support both the main site and the satellite division, so there will be some travelling required between both the sites.

 About the Role

  • Deliver high-quality administrative and reception support, acting as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and staff
  • Maintain accurate records and systems (MIS), including attendance, HR data, and statutory compliance documentation
  • Coordinate school operations such as calendars, communications, events, trips, and staff training
  • Provide administrative support across finance, HR, and wider school functions, ensuring processes run efficiently across both sites
  • Uphold safeguarding, data protection, and security procedures in line with school and statutory requirements

 About you

  • GCSE English and maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
  • Experience working within an administrative function and a team player
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Calm, organised, proactive and able to prioritise effectively
  • Good IT skills and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Commitment to acting with integrity, honesty, loyalty and fairness to safeguard the assets, financial probity and reputation of the school

Fitzwaryn is an Outstanding Special School for children and young people from 3 – 19 years old whose Special Educational Needs range from Moderate Learning Difficulties through to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
