Advanced Teaching Assistant job summary

As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the inclusion leader, and other team members to support all pupils to achieve success. You will provide one-to-one or small group support, assist in the classroom and at break and lunchtime, as well as ensuring the welfare and well-being of pupils, including those with SEN. This role offers a special opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children.

About You

To be a great fit for this role, you will ideally have;

  • A good understanding of child development, learning processes, and Special Educational Needs (SEN), with the ability to apply inclusive practices
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, in an educational setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Childcare Qualification (Level 2 or equivalent) and/or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (desirable)
  • Ability to cover lessons as and when needed (desirable)
  • The ability to adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles, as well as being flexible in supporting various subjects and activities
  • Excellent promotion of the inclusion of all pupils in the learning activities in which they are involved
  • A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated with the latest educational practices and techniques
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students
