Alternative Provision Manager job summary

An exciting opportunity to be part of an evolving Alternative Provision – FINCH - based in West Haringey and attached to Fortismere school. We are looking for staff who are flexible, creative and adaptable who have the potential to step up to a managerial level and beyond.

Finch alternative provision accepts students from Fortismere school as well as surrounding boroughs to Haringey. Finch currently offers two courses; one KS4 course for both years 10 and 11 with a potential of 2 full years. The second course is Breathing Space which is a respite/behaviour modification programme for 6-8 weeks for years 7-11. From this course, students then transition back to their home schools.

This is a great opportunity for a dedicated and inspiring individual who wants to step up into middle management and make a difference. The work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure, and you will be working in an environment where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, nurtured and respected. You will need to demonstrate a commitment to the belief that all students can achieve and learn to their full potential, whatever their challenges are.

The successful candidate will have a passion to support and educate a range of students with varied needs, e.g., students with ADHD, tourettes, emotionally based school avoidance, anxiety, medical conditions, etc., As well as managing the students, it would involve managing the teaching assistants and reporting to the headteacher of the provision.

The successful candidate will have the ability to:

use their own initiative and be adaptable

be tenacious in case work and be prepared to challenge when needed

work closely with external agencies to support good attendance especially when students are persistently absent

maintain confidentiality in all circumstances and keep safeguarding at the forefront of their daily work

work with parents, staff and students in an appropriate manner

have a good level of ICT competency and excellent communications skills

ability to manage a team effectively
