Apprentice Business Administrator job summary

FIXED TERM POST FOR 21 MONTHS

37 HOURS PER WEEK

MONDAY TO FRUDAY, FULL YEAR

Working hours: 08.30 -16.30 (Monday to Friday)

From April 2025 the rate for apprenticeships is £7.55 per hour in the first year and national minimum wage in the appropriate age range in any following year.

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated person to join our administrative team. We are looking to appoint an Apprentice Business Administrator. You will gain hands-on experience in a busy office environment learning a wide range of skills. You will required to take a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship ( 21 months plus an end point assessment) which will primarily be office-based for 4 days, with one day a week to attend college for training and study.

Main duties and responsibilities will include;

Organisation

  • Under the instruction/guidance of senior staff provide general administrative/financial support.
  • Develop a broad understanding of the wide variety of roles within the academy support team.
  • Help plan and run school events such as Open Evenings.

Administration

  • Liaise with staff, students and members of the public regarding school related enquiries by phone, email and face-to face.
  • Create the school newsletter and content for social media platforms.
  • Undertake administrative tasks associated with Admissions to Sixth Form.
  • Coordinate Lettings within school, liaising with facilities and finance teams.
  • Provide support to educational visits, exams and data teams
  • Undertake reception duties, providing a professional and welcoming appearance to the school for staff, students, visitors and members of the public.
  • Undertake a range of general administrative duties and IT based tasks including data input ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, databases, management information systems)
  • Undertake other general administrative duties as required by the Office Manager in order to maintain the efficient running of the school office.
