Do you love getting stuck in, fixing things and figuring out how they work? Can you show great teamwork, a can-do attitude and a hunger to learn new skills? Are you excited to start a career where you get to repair, problem-solve and keep a busy campus running?

If you have answered YES to these questions then we want to hear from you!

Blackpool Sixth is a first-class college specialising in 16-19 education. We have an exciting opportunity for a Property Maintenance Apprentice to join our brilliant Estates team. This is a fixed-term post for the duration of the apprenticeship; typically 24 months.  However, on completion, there may be opportunities for continued employment or further training.

This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in the world of property maintenance; learning a bit of everything, trying your hand at real repairs, and becoming the go-to person who helps keep our campus safe, tidy and in top working order.

Our Estates team is the behind-the-scenes engine that keeps the college running. From unblocking drains to repairing doors, repainting spaces and making sure everything is safe and working as it should, the team are friendly, supportive and full of expertise ready to share.

You’ll work core hours of 08:30/08:00am-4:00/4:30pm, Monday to Friday, all year round, but some flexibility is important. Maintenance tasks and college events don’t always stick to the clock, so expect to support some early starts, later finishes or weekend activity.

A day in the life of a Property Maintenance Apprentice could see you:

  • Rolling up your sleeves to help fix leaky taps, squeaky hinges or flickering lights
  • Learning how to plaster, paint, tile, saw, hammer and safely use a whole toolkit of equipment
  • Supporting the team by following job sheets and diagrams, and discovering how buildings really work
  • Pitching in on everything from minor repairs to bigger maintenance projects around campus
  • Keeping workspaces safe
  • Using tech like PDAs or mobile devices to record tasks and update the team

Ready to roll up your sleeves and become our next maintenance whizz? Apply now!
