Working pattern

Part time: The working hours are 30 hours each week between the hours of 8:30am to 3:15pm Monday to Friday during the school term. You will also be paid for an additional an additional 30 hours per year in the school holidays. Your actual salary is £15,836.58 per annum, and this is paid in 12 equal instalments over the year so even when it is the summer holidays, you continue to receive the same payment that month.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are currently recruiting for an Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our SEND team. You will work as a teaching assistant under the instruction and guidance of teaching/senior staff, whilst training towards completion of the Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. Working mainly in the classroom with a teacher, to support access to learning for SEND pupils and those with other barriers to learning, providing general and specific assistance to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

SEND is at the centre of everything we do at Malet Lambert School. As an Apprentice Teaching Assistant, you will provide individual support to our students; creating opportunities to help them reach their potential in a wide range of different year groups and subject areas, ranging from music and drama to PE and Science. You will work under the instruction and guidance of teaching / senior staff, whilst training towards completion of the Teaching Assist ant Apprenticeship Standard.

  • Applicants should ideally have 3-5 GCSE qualifications or L2 equivalent, including Maths and English. Where applicants do not have English and Maths qualifications at this level they will need to commit to obtaining them before completion of their apprenticeship. Support will be provided.
  • Willingness to work towards a Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • High standard of written and oral communications and good IT skills
