Sir William Robertson Academy is proud to be working in partnership with Priory Apprenticeships to offer this exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students to achieve their full potential. This role will allow you to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a busy and supportive secondary school environment, while completing your Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

About the Opportunity

As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will play an important role in supporting teaching staff and helping students to access learning across a range of subjects and activities. You will work with students with different learning needs, helping to build their confidence, independence and engagement in education.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone considering a long-term career in education, youth work, SEND support or pastoral roles. You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship by experienced school staff and a dedicated Occupational Expert from Priory Apprenticeships.

What You Will Be Doing

During your apprenticeship you will:

  • Support students in lessons to help them understand learning tasks and achieve their target
  • Help prepare classrooms, learning materials and resources
  • Support students with additional learning needs, including those with EHCPs
  • Promote inclusion, positive behaviour and student wellbeing
  • Help students develop literacy, numeracy and independent learning skills
  • Monitor student progress and feedback to teachers
  • Support behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Supervise students during break and lunchtime duties
  • Support school trips and educational visits
  • Take part in training and professional development activities
  • You will gain experience working with a wide range of students and develop key professional skills including communication, organisation, safeguarding awareness and teamwork.

Training and Qualification

This apprenticeship is delivered by Priory Apprenticeships, a specialist provider of education-based apprenticeships.

The programme includes:

  • 18-month apprenticeship programme (plus End Point Assessment period)
  • On-the-job learning within school
  • Workshops, mentoring and professional development
  • Support from an Occupational Expert
  • Achievement of the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
