What skills and experience we're looking for

About the role

You will lead the day to day operational running of Mangotsfield Schools Appropriate Provision Base, under the strategic direction of the Deputy Headteacher. The goal of this base is to improve the attendance, attainment and engagement of emotionally vulnerable students who may also have challenging behaviour needs. You will need to coordinate effective and relevant educational provisions, develop student timetables and review progress and attendance. You will line manage the Education Support Assistant working within this Base and work closely with other stakeholders such as the Family Support Worker.

About you

We need an enthusiastic, proactive and resourceful person who is committed to securing high standards for our students. You will be personable and approachable and be able to quickly build warm and effective relationships with students, and colleagues in school and across the Trust. You will execute your duties in a professional manner, modelling and setting high standards in all areas of school life, and implementing school policies with consistency. You will be a proactive member of the school demonstrating initiative and a can-do approach, as well as being adaptable so as to meet changing needs in your environment. You will be able to make decisions about appropriate responses to situations in relation to students, staff, parents and carers as well as members of the public and members of external organisations in consultation with the Student Centre Lead and the Deputy Headteacher. You will have an up to date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation and the willingness to implement this in accordance with CSET wide and school policies.

You will need substantial experience working with young people and leading a team. A relevant degree is desirable, but not essential.

Everything at Mangotsfield School is based around its school
values driven by Headteacher, Hetty Blackmore. Having first
joined the school as a newly qualified teacher when she was
23 years old and returned to lead it later in her career, she is
very proud of the journey the school is on.

Mangotsfield School is proud to serve its community and has
been part of the local community since 1957. They have just
celebrated being rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted (visit
March 2022).

There are wonderful resources and facilities on site, allowing
students to embrace curricular and extra-curricular
challenges from DT, art, dance, drama and a climbing wall to
name a few. There is a lot of open space, which is green and
calm. And this sense of calm is echoed in the school itself.
The school has a proud sporting history and teams have
travelled as far as Wembley to take part in national
competitions. The school is also on a mission to broaden
horizons with many co-curricular trips taking place, such as a
Year 7 trip to Slimbridge Wetlands for art research and a
Year 8 trip to Tyntesfield House to explore gothic horror
within the English curriculum.
