Waingels, a popular 11-18 school where students achieved above national average in all measures and was identified as “continuing to be good” in a recent OFSTED inspection, is seeking to appoint a highly skilled Art & Design Technician who wants to work in a role where there is ample opportunity to apply their planning, organisational and communication skills.
The Art and Design Technician will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Art and Design at KS3, 4 and A-Level by providing technical support to students and teachers, preparing resources for lessons and maintaining the tools and equipment needed for successful teaching of Art and Design disciplines. The ability to be able to support and advise teachers and students on the use of workshop tools, including drilling, cutting and to maintain a variety of equipment used in these workshops would be an advantage.
In addition to the permanent Art & Design Technician role, we are offering an opportunity for a suitable candidate to undertake enhanced responsibilities on a temporary basis, covering maternity leave from the start date with an expected end date of the end of July 2027. These additional duties include, but are not limited to, preparing and distributing newsletters, coordinating the student podcast, and creating and distributing promotional materials. The successful candidate will receive appropriate remuneration for these enhanced responsibilities during the maternity cover period. Please refer to the recruitment pack for a full breakdown of duties. Applicants are asked to indicate in their application whether they wish to be considered for this opportunity.
Above all, we need someone committed to supporting our young people and helping us be an exceptional school, striving for excellence in everything we do.
Working with us offers you the opportunity to:
- Join a “kind and caring school” where pupils “enjoy being part of the inclusive community” (OFSTED 2023) that aims to be an “exceptional school at the heart of our community”.
- Be part of a forward-thinking department with well-resourced schemes of work
- Engage in excellent, personalised professional development opportunities
- Work in a school where the values of Respect, Kindness, Pride and Responsibility underpin all we do.
