The Bulmershe School are looking to appoint an experienced Art Technician, who could also support our Design & Technology department. The role would be to provide general technical and administrative assistance in the delivery of the Art and Design Technology Curriculum to help raise standards and achievement. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in Art & Design and will need to be self-motivated and flexible in their work.

The Art and Photography Department is part of a large faculty of Creative Arts that covers subjects including Art, Photography and Design Technology. The Faculty prides itself on its strong commitment to students both academically and in becoming well-rounded individuals. There is a culture of team work and support amongst the 6 teachers and 2 technicians, who are all committed to teaching and learning, alongside wellbeing. The Faculty has an active social calendar to allow staff the opportunity to relax and socialise.

We are very proud of our thriving Art and Photography department and the constant progress students are achieving. Our GCSE 3D Design results (June 2023) were again in the top 25% of the country, which is a true reflection of the passion shared by our teachers and students. We have sustained these results since 2015/16 through continuous subject development, reflection and refinement, to ensure all students, across all key stages, enjoy their Art education and are successful, happy learners. We have an absolute commitment to the Visual Arts and despite national curriculum reforms and external pressures, we will always continue to ensure that the creative arts plays a central role in our curriculum.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing technical support within the class room including working alongside students
  • Preparing and ordering materials and equipment for use in lessons as requested and to assist with the reprographics and ICT administration within the Faculty, including Art, DT and Food
  • Assisting in special exhibitions and displays of Art/DT across the school
  • Ensuring the well organised storage of materials, equipment and artwork
  • Maintaining efficient and tidy organisation of Art/DT classrooms and areas
  • Share our high expectations for progress for all students
  • Work independently, but also making a significant contribution to the team
  • Share our positive ethos and commitment to inclusion
