What skills and experience we're looking for
We are currently looking to appoint an Art Instructor to support the teaching of Art at Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form.
Ideally, our successful candidate will have an understanding of vocational courses at Level 2 and 3, along with a desire to contribute across Key Stages 4 and 5. There are opportunities for the candidate to take on additional responsibility in pastoral provision and enrichment.
As Art Instructor, your responsibilities may include:
- Meeting on a regular basis with Art & Design Lead to coordinate lessons with Cambridge Technical Extended Diplomas in L3 Art classes.
- Operational and strategic planning (including lesson planning, developing resources and syllabuses, and contributing to the departmental plan)
- Curriculum planning
- Staff development (including continuing professional development and engaging fully in the Performance Management Review process)
- Quality assurance (including contributing to the process of monitoring and evaluating the subject area)
- Management of information (including maintaining appropriate records and tracking student progress)
- Communications with students, parents and other stakeholders
- Pastoral system (including being a form tutor to a selected group of students)
- Teaching, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students

Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form is a unique sixth form, established to provide an outstanding vocational education and preparation for skills-based work or transition to university for students in Croydon and the surrounding boroughs.
Part of the Harris Federation, which runs highly successful primary and secondary academies across London, Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form caters for students who may not suit the traditional pathways at post-16.
