What skills and experience we're looking for

The Pride Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Art Teacher to join our welcoming school community. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with additional needs, delivering tailored lessons that support and inspire every child to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative and differentiated Art lessons that meet the diverse academic, social and emotional needs of all students.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and well-structured classroom environment that encourages self-expression, confidence and positive engagement.
  • Use assessment to monitor progress, set personalised targets and support students in developing their artistic skills and creativity.
  • Contribute to the development of a broad, balanced and inclusive Art curriculum, including enrichment opportunities where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, pastoral teams and external professionals to support students’ wellbeing and overall development.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a qualification in Art or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Art, ideally within an SEMH, special school or alternative provision setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and the ability to manage behaviour using supportive and restorative approaches.
  • Ability to plan and deliver creative, adaptive lessons that engage and motivate learners of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families.
