Art Teacher job summary

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic school where all can thrive. We are extremely proud of our Outstanding Ofsted ratings where ‘students are exceptionally proud ambassadors for their school’. . We value our staff and want to develop them to the full in a supportive environment. We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for their subject area, is hard-working, flexible, innovative and will enjoy working collaboratively to secure the best possible outcomes for students. Art is on a sharp upward trajectory and we are seeing significant improvements in outcomes for students. We have done much to update the KS3 curriculum across the school including in Art and aim to further develop the curriculum to ensure that it is knowledge rich. Students are encouraged to pursue creative subjects in their option choices, and Art is popular at KS4 and we are looking to grow an A Level cohort. The successful candidate will work closely with the Subject Leader for Art and Design and Technology and play a key role in the development of the Art curriculum in addition to their teaching responsibilities. The Art department offers a range of enriching activities to encourage students to develop their understanding of Art, support the taught curriculum and build students’ cultural capital. We believe all students have the right to experience great works of Art so year 8 do an annual trip to the Tate Britain to ensure all students have visited a gallery in their time at the college. Students can also attend art club and the art room is always open after school for students to use and develop their artwork.
