About you:

  • You’ll be awesome

  • You will be a qualified teacher with QTS (if you are an ECT that’s fine!)
  • You will have a passion for supporting pupils with additional educational needs and be motivated by the challenges that holds
  • You will be able to work collaboratively to secure the best outcomes for all pupils
  • If you have knowledge of THRIVE and an understanding of behaviour management strategies and how to apply them in the classroom that would be great, but if not, you just need the desire to learn

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with ASC experience.

  • You’ll be making a difference! As an awesome Teacher you’ll help to nurture and teach a small group of pupils who have a diagnosis of Autism or Complex Needs. You will change their lives.

Marjory Kinnon School is a successful and growing special school for children and young people with moderate and complex learning difficulties, a high proportion of whom have a diagnosis of Autism. Ofsted judged the school as ‘Good’ with behaviour being judged as ‘Outstanding’. We facilitate learning in a professional and caring environment where the children have the chance to develop their self-esteem, core values and independence, and to learn and make maximum progress. We do everything we can to ensure that our children and young people have a safe environment where they can learn. While working at Marjory Kinnon School you will work with pupils who have autism and/ or MLD. You will provide support with their learning through a curriculum that meets each pupil’s specific needs in order that they reach their full educational potential. A key aspect of working at Marjory Kinnon School is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment. You will prepare lessons and resources, teach either individuals or small groups of pupils within, or outside, the class, mark and assess work, and develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils. You will also liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists as well as working closely with parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes for all our pupils. We provide extensive ongoing training for all staff that also links in with your continued professional development.
