ASC Senior Teacher job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for an innovative and inspiring Senior/lead teacher to lead and develop a new provision for pupils with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) at our school. Cuckmere House School, as part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, is an outstanding special school for pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs. We are expanding our school to set up a provision for 16 KS2 & KS3 pupils whose needs are predominately ASC. We are seeking to appoint an experienced practitioner with a proven track record of successfully meeting the needs of pupils with ASC to help plan and develop this provision starting from September 2019.
The successful candidate will have experience of developing effective practice for young people with a range of complex learning needs, including ASC. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour within and beyond the classroom. You may have specialist knowledge and experience of working with young people with autistic spectrum disorder or social or emotional and mental health difficulties, or a combination of both.
As Senior/lead teacher, you will have a combination of management and teaching responsibilities with a focus on developing a new provision that aims to achieve positive outcomes for young people. You will contribute to the organisation, management and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring high quality teaching, standards of behaviour and well established school routines. Within this role you will demonstrate a commitment to understanding and meeting the needs of each individual young person, ensuring the curriculum and support that we offer stimulates, motivates and engages them in learning.
We are very excited about this opportunity to expand our outstanding school and we are dedicated to ensuring this new provision delivers the highest quality education possible for the young people we care for. If you are an effective, dynamic and passionate individual who is ready to shape this exciting new development with your innovation and commitment to high quality teaching then we would like to hear from you.
In return, we offer you the support of a terrific staff team and a commitment to ensuring your professional development allows you to continue to learn and develop expertise in your new role. If you can see yourself shaping the future provision for our expanding school we would like to hear from you.
We welcome visits to our school and if you would like to see us prior to submitting an application please contact Fiona Shields, the school secretary, to arrange a visit. Alternatively if you wish to have an informal discussion with Lorraine Myles, Head of School, this can also be arranged. Please contact us on 01323 893319 or by email on office.ch@sabden.org.uk .
Commitment to safeguarding
The school has a proven commitment to 'Equality of Opportunity' and actively promotes the welfare and safeguarding of young people. Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Debarring Service (DBS).
