Further details about the role
We are expanding and moving into a purpose-built school, with additional classes. We are looking to recruit additional teachers to work with our wonderful ASD learners in specialist wings that are designed to enable our learners. You will need to be a person who can work closely with our Behaviour & Health Lead, Therapy Teams and Parents. You will need to be able to advocate for our learners. It is essential that you have that special something that allows you to engage with and motivate our learners in creative and ingenious ways, be innovative and imaginative in providing meaningful learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom. We want you to make the ordinary extraordinary. Our older learners currently work towards Aim-Awards Accreditation which celebrates their different skills and abilities. Most classes are based around eight learners with two support staff depending on the needs of the learners. All classes follow timetables based around our bespoke curriculum which we have developed to meet the needs of our learners. We follow topics and extend our activities through our Friday Theme Days. All class teachers are part of a curriculum development team and have additional non-contact time as well-being is important to us.
For us it is about appointing the right person who has an interest in SEND and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. As such we are open to applications from primary or secondary ECTs or more experienced teachers. Being part of Diverse Academies with an expanding SEND portfolio allows us to support and influence the wider SEND community in our trust.

We are a specialist academy for children aged 3-19. Most learners are on the autistic spectrum and some have severe, complex, profound and multiple learning difficulties. We are based in Mansfield Woodhouse and currently have 113 pupils.
Our academy has a caring and supportive staff team who believe in every learner, and we work together to ensure our children achieve their very best.
