Assistant Caretaker job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Assistant Caretaker's at Bradford Alternative Provision Academy, based at the Cityview and Jesse Street site.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the school site is safe, secure, and well maintained at all times. You will support the day-to-day running of the premises, including assisting with maintenance tasks, health and safety checks, security of the site, and ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
The role will involve working collaboratively with the wider site team to respond to maintenance issues, carry out routine inspections, support with setting up spaces for school activities, and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements. You will also help to maintain the security of the site, including opening and closing procedures, and responding to any on-site concerns as they arise.

Bradford Alternative Provision Academy supports secondary-aged young people across Bradford who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education or require additional support to re-engage with learning. The Academy operates across a number of sites within the city, working collaboratively to provide a flexible and personalised approach that meets the individual needs of each pupil.

The successful candidate will:
- Undertake or arrange repairs/maintenance as instructed by the Site Manager
- Assist in the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school building and grounds
- Support with opening and locking the school premises
- Monitor and replenish stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies
- Ensure the site is clean, safe and hazard free for pupils and staff, reporting any issues to the Site Manager
- Be a team player with a practical, hands-on approach
