What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role

We are seeking an outstanding individual to support the Director of Learning in setting the strategic direction and development of the humanities faculty in support of the school’s core aims of all lessons being good to outstanding and all students achieving their potential.

Our school has its own sixth form college, Sigma Sixth, with a campus in Tendring located within a short drive away drive from the school.Although, based at a different site it is very much part of the mainstream school and, for the right candidate, there is the possibility of teaching up to key stage 5 if appropriate.

Without doubt, this is an exceptionally exciting time to join our staff, the school is highly respected within the local community and is continuing to expand.We have a recent addition to the main school site; a new build with six brand new modular classrooms and a 4-court sports hall. The sixth form college is also a very modern, bright environment with excellent facilities.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

To deputise for the Director of Learning. To be responsible for the strategic leadership of History, working in line with the humanities leaders in Geography and Religious Education. To be a successful and inspirational subject teacher and classroom practitioner. To be a part of the Teaching and Learning team and contribute to whole school decision making in relation to teaching and learning development. To support and secure the commitment of others to the vision, ethos, direction and policies of the school and promote high levels of achievement in the faculty. To support the creation and implementation of the faculty development plan, and to take responsibility for any delegated functions. To line manage and support staff in achieving the priorities and targets of the faculty as required
