Assistant Director of Learning: Maths job summary

We seek to appoint an Assistant Director of Learning (DL) team to work alongside the Director of Learning in Maths to develop and implement policies, plans, targets, and practices within the Maths department. In line with the school aims, you will play an active role in making changes to raise the quality and level of attainment and progression of learners within Maths at Poynton High. The Assistant Director of Learning will also take responsibility for a Key Stage as part of their role. The successful candidate will be passionate about Maths and actively promote all students succeeding in Maths.

The Maths department contains seven full-time and five part-time teachers. The Maths leadership team consist of five people. The Director of Learning is supported by a Key Stage Coordinator for each Key Stage, one of whom will be the Assistant DL for Maths. There is also a Teaching and Learning coordinator in the department who supports the continual professional development of the department. In addition to our in-house professional development, staff are given opportunities to attend external courses, such as those run by the AMSP and the Maths Hub. In addition to the leadership structure in the department, the Director of Learning is supported by a member of the school’s Strategic Leadership Team.
