Assistant Head of English job summary

St John Payne Catholic School is a friendly, supportive and successful secondary school with 1200 students including 170 in the sixth form. Our latest Ofsted report identified us as good with outstanding features, with an outstanding sixth form. This is an opportunity for a well-qualified and experienced teacher of English to assist in the leadership of the department. We wish to recruit an excellent classroom practitioner with proven administrative ability to support the Head of Department in furthering the vision for the school. The department offers A Levels in English Language, English Literature, and Film Studies. The successful candidate will have management experience within an English department and demonstrate a clear understanding of current developments in the subject. They will join a thriving department within a school that enjoys a long standing record of academic success and high quality pastoral care.
